獸醫簡介 About Veterinary Surgeon

黃宇琛醫生於11歲時與家人移民澳洲，17歲開始擁有第一隻寵物BO BO，西施混種狗。這時候開始奠定了黃醫生對獸醫行業的濃厚興趣。

2003年於澳洲墨爾本大學畢業的他取得了獸醫學士學位，於同年得到在墨爾本一間大規模獸醫醫院的工作機會，這間醫院專門幫助走失，被遺棄及其他原因而無法接受治療的動物提供援助。經過四年的累積工作經驗，黃醫生深入了解到動物內科藥物，外科手術，各種檢查儀器應用及急症實踐狀況等等。

基於西方藥物對動物的幫助始終有限，黃醫生積極進修希望藉由針灸及中藥用來扶助傳統西方醫術，亦獲得國際獸醫針灸協會文憑及完成獸醫中草藥基礎課程。於2009年6月亦成為英國皇家獸醫學院院士，可在當地執業。

Samuel migrated to Melbourne with his family at the age of 11. He had his first dog BoBo, when he was in secondary school and developed a keen interest in veterinarymedicine.

After obtaining a Bachelor degree in Veterinary Science at University of Melbourne in 2003, Samuel began his career at the Lort Smith Animal Hospital (www.lortsmith.com) in North Melbourne, which was one of the largest non-profitable animal hospital in the world, providing care for over 100,000 lost, abandoned, mistreated and sick animals annually. During the next 4 years working there as a full-time veterinarian, Samuel gained vast experience in various fields of veterinary medicine including internal medicine, surgery ranging from routine desexing to more complex soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures, dentistry and radiology. He also practiced as the solo veterinarian on duty during the night shift and treated emergency cases such as motor vehicle accident, dog attack, heart failure, urinary tract obstruction, birth difficulty, snake bite & poisoning.

Due to the fact that Western medicine has its limitations and side effects in treating a lot of common conditions (namely osteoarthritis in elderly animals), Samuel was interested in further education in alternative medicine, he obtained a certificate from the IVAS (International Veterinary Acupuncture Society) and practiced as a qualified veterinary
acupuncturist. He also undertook a foundation course in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine in Sydney in February 2009. Samuel is now working as a full-time veterinarian at Cosmo Pet Animal Hospital and Service Centre and is keen to provide quality veterinary service for your pets.
